46. Memorize 25 life verses (3/25)

Just an update on how my 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge has been going:

Items done:
42. Join a medical mission trip

86. Become a world partner Just signed up to be a world partner last Sunday. I’m excited to do my part in what God is doing in the nations.

28. Change my hairstyleI got a haircut about two weeks ago. Got tired of long, heavy hair. My hair is now up to my collar bone, the shortest I’ve gone in a long time and I’m loving it. 🙂 Here are before and after pics:

That’s me with long hair, standing next to a young Filipino actor named Aljur Abrenica

Thats’s me with shorter hair standing next to Japanese-American (?) Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga

Items I am currently working on:
1. Lose 20 lbs by November 27, 2009 (3/20) — I am not sure exactly where I am now because I have been putting off getting on the scale since I got sick for three weeks and could not work out. Some people have been mentioning that I’m getting thinner so hopefully I can share a positive update once I finally get on that scale.

3. Run a 3k — I have been back to running since Saturday. It feels so good! I’m able to run now for 20 minutes without stopping. This is a big thing for me because although I was always a decent athlete (see below a picture of me with my former Women’s Basketball teammates), I hate long-distance running. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m flat-footed or because I have asthma, but I always seem to really have trouble running for long periods of time. But I really want to run a 3k, then eventually a 5k, maybe even a 10k (gasp), so I am pushing myself to run even when I feel like I can’t anymore. I hope to be able to do 25 minutes straight tomorrow. 🙂

6. Quit drinking soda :(It’s been five eight days since I last drank soda. “Water is my friend” is what I always tell myself. “

9. Complete Hiphop Abs video — I have the video. Just haven’t popped it into our DVD player yet. 🙂

11. Finish a cardio martial arts class — Planning to do this on the last Monday of September. This coming Monday is a non-working holiday so I’ll be spending the long weekend at my mom’s place, which is over an hour away from the city where the cardio martial arts class is taught.

38. Join five reading challenges (0/5) — Joining the Fall Into Reading Challenge of Katrina over at Callapidder Days which starts on September 22. Got to get my list ready! Woohoo! 🙂

60. Buy an external hard drive — I’m attending a press conference for a company that makes external hard drives. Hoping that I will be given one or at least win one in a raffle. Praying for a blessing!

64. Clean up/organize my personal email — Deleted hundreds of email from my gmail account. Hundreds more to go. 🙂

68. Watch one movie in the theater every month for 12 months (2/12) — So far, so good. Watched Time Traveler’s Wife in August, then a hilarious Filipino comedy Kimmydora this month. Watching another good local movie this week called In My Life. It’s starring this guy I’m with in this picture. 🙂

With John Lloyd Cruz 😀

97. Go on a Grey’s Anatomy marathon with Ingrid — Hoping to get to start this next week when we have our annual planning session.

98. Get my photos taken by a photographer friend — Was supposed to do this last Saturday but my friend had to postpone.

For this last item I’m going to mention, I think there’s a need to identify the verses I will memorize. It’s easier to remember stuff when they’re on paper (or on a blog).

46. Memorize 25 life verses (3/25) —

1. Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

2. Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

3. James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

4. Romans 4:18-21
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

5. Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

6. Psalm 40:5
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.

7. Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

8. Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

9. 1 Corinthians 2:9
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”

10. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

11. 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

12. Ephesians 5:15-17
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

13. Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

** It’s 4AM, need to get to bed. Will complete the list another time. 🙂
